Product Shipping and Delivery

We ship worldwide, to just about all countries.

The product delivery time consists of three main components. The purchase time, our manufacturing time and the shipping time.

Shipping Summary

With all our products originating directly from manufacturing in Thailand, international shipping forms an important cost item. This cost can be reduced significantly by two factors: a) time, because the more time you have the cheaper the shipping will be and b) quantity, because the higher your total shipping volume or weight, the lower the shipping costs will be per piece.

We arrange shipping as a service to our customers who purchase our and our artisans handmade products. We generally quote shipping costs "at cost" as quoted to us by our freight forwarders. We maintain discount agreements with a number of reputable freight forwarders (couriers and other forwarders/shippers) which we pass on to our customers. In case you have experience in shipping from our area aleady, you might be interested in both our product and shipping quotes.

As part of our quotes to our customers we also prepare indications for shipping time. These indications are based on details supplied by the various shipping agencies (post, courier services, freight forwarders, shipping lines), augmented with our general experience on shipping times for the various shipping methods. While these indications are generally accurate, the actual shipping time remains the responsibility of the shipping agency. Shipping time may also be affected by country customs or security agency spot checks, which may occur on random basis.

Export Shipping

Most of our products currently originate from the Thailand countryside and are shipped directly from Thailand. We usually quote prices Ex Workshop or Free on Board Thailand for any sea port or airport. Other shipping options are available, depending on client preference.

Different economies of scale apply for various shipping options: For high volume and low-cost shipping, sea freight is the most preferred method. For fast shipping, courier to you doorstep is often the most preferred, while some customers also opt for air freight shipping. We can supply you with the specific shipping costs upon request.

For volumes below 1 cubic meter, postal or courier shipping are the most widely used shipping methods. We are at your service to advise you.

As a security precaution, all orders settled by credit card are shipped exlusively to the card holder's registered billing address.

Free on Board

Sea freight and air freight can be shipped Free On Board (FOB) ship or airplane. For sea freight FOB we quote product prices delivered on board ship in either of Thailand's two major sea ports (Bangkok or Luang Prabang), including all transport and export documentation required to load shipments on board ship. For air freight we quote FOB Bangkok or Chiang Mai international airports. With FOB, the actual international freight is arranged by the client. Clients with other supplier contacts in Thailand may combine our product shipments with those from other suppliers, improving economies of scale for the total shipment. We can help arrange coordination with other suppliers, if desired, but usually the client's shipping company can do this as well.

Sea Freight Shipping

Sea freight shipping is the lowest cost method when volumes are over 1-2 cubic meters. Depending on destination, actual time on ship might be only two to three weeks, while total transit time is usually about one to two months. It is often arranged by our clients through client's shipping company, while we ship the consignment FOB to Thailand harbour. Alternatively we also arrange full sea freight shipping and quote you cost-insurance-freight (CIF) to your destination port or location. Consignments may be by full container or partial container, measured in cubic meters (CBM). Sea freight seems to imply shipping by sea only, but it usually covers the overland portion to your inland destination as well: we can quote sea freight to Lincoln, Nebraska in the center of the United States. Depending on the shipping agency and presence of customs facilities, sea freight shipments are customs cleared at point of entry to the country (the sea port) or at the destination location. You'll need to arrange customs clearance, you can also contact an agent to do this for you, or we can recommend one in your area.

Air Freight Shipping

Air freight shipping is usually arranged by us (CIF) through an air freight shipping company, and is used for more urgent volumes over about 50-100 kg. It takes about 3-5 days to reach your nearest international airport or other airport with a customs warehouse. Similar to sea freight, you'll need to arrange customs clearance and delivery to your location from there. You can clear and pick up the consignment by yourself, or contact a forwarding agent to do this for you. For quite a few locations, the major courier services are just slightly more costly than air freight, while they arrange all customs formalities and deliver to your doorstep.

Courier

We often ship by courier. We maintain discount agreements with UPS, FedEx, DHL and TNT. For shipping time between 3-7 days, couriers are a reliable and relatively economic alternative for smaller to medium consignments. Depending on your location and types/quantity of items, courier shipping may be lower cost than postal air mail and possibly postal SAL. The cost of doorstep courier delivery may also come quite close to that of standard air freight, which has separately charged clearance fees, local delivery costs and possibly longer clearance time. We can advise you based on your products, your location and intended delivery deadline.

Postal Mail

Postal international surface mail (ISM), also called "sea mail", is the lowest cost postal option, with delivery time approximately 42-84 days. With this option it's good to think (or to have thought) ahead. Faster methods are postal surface airlift (SAL), also called "economy air", which takes approximately 14-28 days (USA up to 35 days), and international airmail (IAM), which is about 7-14 days, and lastly express mail (EMS) at 5-7 days. These options are all delivered by your national postal mail carrier. The reliability of shipping times for postal mail can vary, and may at times exceed the estimated shipping times informed by the post office. Example, a SAL shipment consisting of 2 packages sent at the same time, one package arriving at destination within 12 days, the other package arriving after 32 days. A note on SAL: this method generally travels according to international surface mail, but substitutes the long sea transit time with air lift. When it reaches the destination country is again handled as normal overland mail. None of the postal mail options offer online tracking of packages.

Carton/Package Specifications

The standard carton specifications shown on most of our pages allow you to make a preliminary estimate of consignment dimensions and weight. To clarify:

- Item: the product item as specified by its model number
- Quantity: the number of individual items per one standard carton
- Price/Item: the price per individual item at the quantity that fits into that carton in US$
- Carton Size: the individual carton dimensions according to length, width, height (LxWxH) in centimeters
- Carton Cub: the shipping volume of a carton measured in cubic meters
- Net Weight: the weight of items without the packaging and carton in kilograms
- Gross Weight: the weight of items with packaging and cartons in kilograms
- Dimensional Weight: the weight as used by air freight and couriers in kilograms - valid is gross or dimensional weight (whichever is higher).

Calculation example: To assemble a sea freight consignment for the smallest generally economically feasible volumes of 1 or 2 cubic meters, just add up the "Carton Cub" numbers of your items until they reach just under 1 (for one cubic meter) or just under 2 (for two cubic meters). Do not go "over", since forwarders charge the full next cubic meter as soon as exceeding a cubic meter figure.

Please also note that depending on individual orders, we may choose to use carton configurations that are somwhat different from the mentioned standard cartons, and that some products allow "crosspacking" (mixing of items in cartons) when it can serve saving you shipping cost.

General indication of postal mail delivery time and costs in USD:

Below please see the general indications of postal parcels shipping costs in your country's currency. Actual costs may vary. Very small samples packets up to 2 kg are lower. For a number of countries, we can offer small courier shipments at lower cost than postal air mail and medium size courier shipments cheaper than postal SAL. Contact us for details.

These are general price and shipping time indications, actual figures may differ. To calculate mailed shipping cost, check the "gross carton weight" of items on our site that interest you. Take a) the "first kilo" cost of the shipping method. Then b) "gross carton weight" minus 1 and multiply this result times the "next kilo's" amount. Add both of these, a) plus b). This is the estimated shipping cost.

Calculation example: Handheld Parasols PARASA-101-M at 50 items per carton, total 23 kilo gross weight, surface-sea mailed to the United States: a) First kilo: 14.26 , b) number of next kilos: 23-1 = 22. Next kilos' cost: 22 times 3.65 = 80.30. Total cost: 14.26 + 80.30 = 94.56 shipping cost. Or about 1.90 per item.

Our Quality Control

We meticulously inspect and double-check our outgoing shipments for product correctness, manufacturing quality and appropriate packaging. On our own initiative we may at times include a slightly higher number of goods to off-set any potential shipping breakage or other risks.

Your Quality Control

However, any incurred shipping breakage is principally the responsibility of the freight forwarder and we highly urge you to carefully inspect your shipment immediately upon arrival - while the freight forwarder is present - and immediately fill out an exception report with the forwarder if you notice any damage to outside packaging or shipment contents! Without such a report there is no restitution for damages whatsoever.

In any case we try to make amends if there should be any issue arising with your shipment.
